Passport Photo Maker

Turn a selfie into a passport-size photo with a white background, auto-cropped and centered.

Passport Photo Maker: Free Online Passport Size Photo Tool

A compliant passport photo needs a plain white background, the subject centered and correctly sized, and printed at the right physical dimensions — normally a trip to a pharmacy or photo studio. ConvertBrio's passport photo maker does all three automatically: upload a selfie or any clear headshot, and get back a print-ready 2x2 inch photo with a clean white background in seconds.

How It Works

Upload a photo, and ConvertBrio detects your face, crops and centers it to standard passport proportions, removes the original background, and replaces it with solid white — then outputs a 2x2 inch photo at 600 DPI (1200x1200 pixels), the size used for both US and Indian passport and visa photos. There's nothing to position or adjust manually.

Getting the Best Result

Use a well-lit, front-facing photo with your whole head and shoulders visible and some space around them — a phone selfie against a plain wall works well. Avoid photos where the head is cropped tight at the edges, since the tool needs room above the head and around the shoulders to compute a correctly-proportioned crop. One person per photo; group photos or heavily cropped close-ups won't process correctly.

What This Tool Doesn't Guarantee

This produces a professional-looking, correctly-sized and centered photo with a genuine white background — not a certified compliance check. It doesn't verify lighting evenness, expression, glasses glare, or the other criteria an official ICAO or government photo review checks by hand. For a passport application with strict acceptance requirements, treat this as a strong starting point and confirm against your country's current photo requirements before submitting.

Privacy

Face detection and background removal both run on ConvertBrio's own servers using self-hosted, open-source models — your photo is never sent to a third-party API or reviewed by a person. Uploaded and generated files are automatically deleted within 24 hours.

Passport Photo Maker FAQ

Common questions about ConvertBrio's passport photo maker.

What size photo does this produce?

A 2x2 inch (1200x1200 pixel) photo at 600 DPI — the standard size for both US and Indian passport and visa photos.

Is this free?

Yes. Uploading a photo and generating a passport-size photo with a white background doesn't require an account or payment.

Will this photo definitely be accepted for my passport application?

It produces a correctly-sized, centered photo with a genuine white background, which covers the most common rejection reasons. It doesn't run a full official compliance check (lighting, expression, glasses glare), so confirm against your country's current requirements before submitting an official application.

What if it says no face was found, or more than one face?

Use a clear, front-facing, well-lit photo with exactly one person in frame. Group photos, side profiles, or very dark/blurry images can prevent face detection from working correctly.

Why did it say there's not enough space around the face?

The tool needs visible margin above the head and around the shoulders in the original photo to compute a correctly-proportioned crop. If your photo is already tightly cropped to the face, take a new one from a bit further back.
