How to use this tool

    JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, or AVIF, up to 100 MB. A clear subject against a reasonably plain background works best.

Getting the cleanest edges

Results are best when the subject stands out clearly from what's behind it — good lighting, a plain-ish background, and reasonable contrast at the edges. The model can struggle with fine flyaway hair, transparent or glassy objects, low-contrast boundaries (a grey coat against a grey wall), and photos with several overlapping people. If an edge comes out rough, a cleaner source photo usually fixes it; for small touch-ups, crop the result with the Crop Image tool.

Privacy

The background-removal model is self-hosted and open-source — your photo is never sent to an external API or seen by a person. Uploads are capped at 100 MB, and both the original and the cutout are deleted within 24 hours whether or not you download.
