AI Image Upscaler: Increase Resolution Without the Blur

Enlarging a small or low-resolution image with an ordinary resize just spreads the existing pixels over more area, leaving it soft and blocky. ConvertBrio's AI upscaler uses a trained super-resolution model to increase resolution roughly 4×, reconstructing plausible detail — edges, texture, fine structure — instead of stretching what's there.

How to use this tool

    Upload the image you want enlarged

    A real-world photo works best. JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, or AVIF, up to 100 MB.

    Run the upscale

    A bundled AI model reconstructs detail at about 4× the input's resolution, working in tiles to manage memory. This takes a few seconds longer than a plain conversion.

    Download the PNG

    The result is always a PNG at 4× the (possibly downscaled) input resolution.

Upscaling vs resizing

The Resize Image tool changes pixel dimensions with standard interpolation — perfect for making an image smaller, but it can't add detail that isn't in the file, so enlarging looks blurry. AI upscaling is the opposite approach: the model has learned what real photo detail looks like and paints in a convincing high-resolution version. Use resize to shrink, use the upscaler to enlarge.

When it helps most

  • Enlarging an old, small, or low-resolution photo for printing
  • Preparing a web-sized image for a large display or a high-DPI screen
  • Recovering usable size from a heavily cropped photo
  • Sharpening a slightly soft image (though Image Enhancer is better for same-size cleanup)

What to expect

Results are strongest on natural photographs — people, places, objects. The model can struggle with dense text, sharp line art, screenshots, and heavily stylised graphics, sometimes inventing texture that wasn't there. Very high-resolution source images are downscaled before upscaling to keep processing reasonable, so feeding in an already-large photo won't gain much. It's a reconstruction, not a recovery of the true original detail.

Privacy and limits

The model runs on ConvertBrio's own servers — no third-party AI service. Uploads are capped at 100 MB, and both the source and the upscaled result are deleted within 24 hours.
